Music's Week Staff: What was the defining moment when you knew you were meant to create music?
Pure Energy: For me, when I wrote my first song, my band performed it live and I saw people dancing and loving it, I knew I was meant to create music.

Music's Week Staff: What are the essential qualities that make a good artist?
Pure Energy: I think that talent, personality, and determination are qualities that every artist should have, but I think confidence is at the top of the list.)

Music's Week Staff: What have been the greatest challenges of your career so far?
Pure Energy:
Dealing with the business part of the music industry and staying true to the artform have been some of our greatest challenges.

Music's Week Staff: Describe your experience recording the song "Midnight Magic"?
Pure Energy:
The energy was awesome in the studio. Midnight Magic was written back in the 80s. We went into the studio with the idea to keep the sound of the original demo, keep all the music arrangements and vocal arrangements, but bring it up to date. So, we brought in producer Eric Hudson to work with us, and it was exciting working from two different generations perspectives. It was fun using all live instruments like electric guitars, bass and a live horn section. Doing it the old school way of recording all the vocals live without special processing like Auto Tune was cool too. It was great getting back together after forty years and recording “Midnight Magic”.)

Music's Week Staff: How did you describe your process of creating "Midnight Magic" compared to your other song?
Pure Energy: We kept our same formular that we had when we wrote our first hit song, “Party On” and wrote hit songs like “Holiday”, for Madonna and “Body Work” for the group Hot Streak. Except for the drum programming, everything was performed live and in real-time. The only thing different was we recorded in a digital platform instead of an analog platform.)

Music's Week Staff: What was the creative approach for this new video?  Do you take the context of the song in consideration when creating the video? Why/Why not
Pure Energy: Midnight Magic is about people dancing, partying and having a good time, so we wanted to convey that in the video. And since the song had an authentic 80’s groove, we wanted to show that vibe also. We wanted people to see that the music was real musicians and a singer performing live, so we did some great studio and live footage. The video production company Three Towers Film brought in a talented young director from Los Angeles and he took the context of the magic starts happen at midnight with people dancing at a club, in the street and he did a great job of capturing the essence of that in the video.)

Music's Week Staff: Does your music fit in to your local scene? If so, how do you take advantage of that? If not, do you see that as an obstacle and what do you do about it?
Pure Energy: Well, “Midnight Magic” is a grove that can fit on any scene. People are still vibing on the music from the 80s today. We can hear that in some of the music Beyonce, Lizzo and Dua lupa doing. Pure Energy’s goal is to bring that feel good music of the 80s back. Hopefully we will get some new supporters of our music. We understand what the current trends are and if we don’t try to fit into that box, there is a risk of our music not reaching any many people as it could. But we want to give people something that’s truly us, not a manufactured sound just to be trendy.)

Music's Week Staff: If you could pass on a nugget of wisdom to the next musical generation, what would it be?
Pure Energy: Stay true to who you are. Your art and music reflect who you are and what you represent, and people can feel when it’s honest. Keep ownership of your songs and masters. Get great lawyers and representation. Work with people who believe in you and people that you can trust.

Music's Week Staff: Where can potential fans find out more about you?
Pure Energy: Our music is on all streaming platforms and here are the links to all our social media pages.
