MusicsWeek: How did you get started in music?
Chris Salvatore: I started singing in the elementary school choir at a young age and never really stopped after that. When I was in my early twenties I started posting cover songs on YouTube and started to gain a following there.
MusicsWeek: What inspired you to become a musician?
Chris Salvatore: Broadway is what inspired me to become a musician. I loved broadway when I was younger especially shows like The Phantom of the Opera and Cats.
MusicsWeek: Can you share the story behind your latest single?
Chris Salvatore: ’Starting Something’ was written about a toxic relationship where I felt like my partner at the time was always starting something, like an argument. One of those relationships where you know they are no good for you but you can’t seem to leave.
MusicsWeek: How does your latest project reflect your growth as an artist?
Chris Salvatore: This new music project has a lot more instrumentation. It has more of a disco vibe rather than strict pop music.
MusicsWeek: How would you describe your musical style?
Chris Salvatore: I would describe my musical style as a little bit of disco, pop, and rock. Like a Tame Impala / A Flock of Seagulls vibe.
MusicsWeek: What inspires your songwriting? Do you draw from personal experiences or fictional stories?
Chris Salvatore: My songwriting is inspired by my real-life experiences. Usually experiences of deep emotional pain. Lots of grief either through a breakup or the loss of a loved one. When I write music it feels really healing for me.
MusicsWeek: Who is your dream collaborator or artist to work with?
Chris Salvatore: I think it would be amazing to work with another artist who is a part of the LGBTQ+ community, like Troye Sivan.

Chris Salvatore: My personal experiences shape my music in a profound way. Since making music is very healing for me it’s like a really cool dance of life and art.
MusicsWeek: What’s the most significant change you’ve seen in yourself since starting your music career?
Chris Salvatore: You know, being older and wiser is great. I know more about what to spend my time on and how to invest in my career better. It was always a dream of mine to have my own studio in my home and it feels really good to be able to just roll out of bed and put down some chords and vocals.
MusicsWeek: What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
Chris Salvatore: I’m really into meditation and I love to play my crystal singing bowls.
