MusicsWeek: What sparked your passion for making music?

Nick Lusk:
Music turned into a way for me to express myself and the influence of where I came from. There’s so much passion and talent in my area that highly influenced me in creating music.

MusicsWeek: How would you define your unique sound?

Nick Lusk:
I feel that my voice is very laid back and comforting. I’ve been told by many that it’s soft and emotional.

MusicsWeek: Which artists have had the biggest impact on your music?

Nick Lusk:
The older legends like Keith Whitley and George Jones as well as newer artists like Morgan Wallen and Zach Top.

MusicsWeek: Is there a story behind your stage name?

Nick Lusk:
No story behind the name. It’s just a shorter version of my first name!

MusicsWeek: What message or emotions do you hope to convey through your songs?

Nick Lusk:
I hope to show that even the smallest places have huge memories, experiences, etc.

MusicsWeek: Can you share how you typically create a song?

Nick Lusk:
I typically start with a guitar and myself, as that’s how I’ve done it for years and years. If a guitar and a voice can invoke emotion, building off that has never failed me.

MusicsWeek: Do you usually start with the lyrics, melody, or something else?

Nick Lusk:
I usually start with the melody and structure of a song and then add lyrics. I like the motion and the music to be catchy and then tell my story over that.

MusicsWeek: Where do you draw inspiration from when writing music?

Nick Lusk:
My community, my history, and my environment. There’s so much passion, pain, and hope here. It’s endless possibilities.

MusicsWeek: How do you overcome creative blocks?

Nick Lusk:
I put everything away, go out, and experience the world. Whether it’s driving around, walking, etc. it helps to clear my blocks.

MusicsWeek: Which of your songs means the most to you and why?

Nick Lusk:
Summer Lovin’ for sure. That song really captures the rural environment of this place and how experiences are created here!
