Cam’ron Admits He Didn’t Want to Battle The LOX on “Verzuz”

Cam’ron says he never wanted to take part in Dipset’s memorable Verzuz showdown with The Lox in 2021. While discussing his regrets on a recent episode of It Is What It Is, Cam said he has spent too much of his career making choices simply to support the team.

“I can name a lot of decisions that wasn’t good because I was trying to be a team player. I should’ve never did the Verzuz, I told n****s don't do the Verzuz,” Cam said. “... It was the wrong decision that I made. No more of that... I’ve tried to be a team player a lot of times, but that’s the first thing that came to my brain when you said, ‘wrong decisions.’”

When 2Cool2Blog posted the clip on X (formerly Twitter), plenty of fans agreed with Cam’s take. “Let’s be real. Them n**s had no idea the lox was coming that prepared lol. Dipset shoulda won if they did everything right,” one user commented. Another wrote: “Yeah we could tell lol from when the n*a turned up late, I knew it was over lol.”

Although both groups hold legendary discographies, The Lox ended up overpowering Dipset during their Verzuz battle. It remains one of the most talked-about installments of the series, which recently returned with a matchup between No Limit and Cash Money in October.

On a recent episode of the Joe & Jada podcast, Jadakiss reflected on the night and admitted he felt unbeatable during the performance. “I was out of my mind,” he told Fat Joe. “It was a very different space that I was in that day. I’d never been that way before.”

While the show later reappeared for No Limit and Cash Money’s battle at ComplexCon, there is still no confirmed date for the next Verzuz installment. Timbaland and Swizz Beatz have not yet shared when the series will return to a consistent schedule. The two producers have been involved in a lengthy legal dispute with Triller that began in 2022.
