Artist Spotlight: The 510 Dro

The 510 Dro is an artist who has always loved music but wasn’t always in a position to express it. After working a series of odd jobs, he found himself seeking fulfillment and purpose. Once he fully committed to music, he concluded it was the exact piece of himself that he was looking for.

We caught up with The 510 Dro to explore the moments that defined their sound — and the vision that drives their next chapter.

MusicsWeek: What inspired the concept behind your latest project?

The 510 Dro:
I started out just wanting to make a fun dance track, but once I got into it, the song kind of took on a life of its own. I wasn’t thinking too hard about a concept at first; it just came together naturally.

MusicsWeek: How did the process of creating your latest project differ from your previous work?

The 510 Dro:
The process wasn’t too different from my other projects. I sped the BPM (Beats Per Minute) up a bit, used a reference song in the same key, built a fun rhythm section, and picked instruments that felt right for the track.

MusicsWeek: Were there any unexpected challenges you faced while working on this project?

The 510 Dro:
As fun as the process was, combining orchestral sounds with the “honk” sound was a challenge. Since those instruments aren’t typically used together, I had to experiment with the sounds to make it work.

MusicsWeek: Can you share any behind-the-scenes moments from the making of your latest project?

The 510 Dro:
I spent a lot of time at Starbucks with my laptop and portable keyboard. There were many days where I sat in the shop for hours, focused and flowing with creativity, sipping on my iced coffee.

MusicsWeek: How did you choose the collaborators or producers for this project?

The 510 Dro:
I created the song entirely by myself, but as I mentioned, I have an engineer that helped me polish the song for commercial use. My engineer is a talented guy who I found after looking for good, professional studios in my area.

MusicsWeek: What message or theme do you hope listeners take away from your latest work?

The 510 Dro:
I just want people to make time for fun, not think too much, and dance whenever they can.

MusicsWeek: What do you personally enjoy most about this song, and how do you hope listeners connect with it?

The 510 Dro:
As the creator of the song, I enjoy it just as much as a first-time listener would. There are still memories to be made — for me and for everyone who connects with it.

MusicsWeek: How do you feel your sound has evolved in this latest project compared to your earlier work?

The 510 Dro:
I’ve grown a lot in songwriting, vocals, and production. It’s been quite a journey from when I started during COVID to where I am now. With consistent practice, making songs, and a true passion for music, I’ve improved and will continue to get better.

MusicsWeek: Can you talk about the visual direction for your latest single? How does it complement the music?

The 510 Dro:
The artwork features a disco ball with glowing rays of light in a dream-like room. Just like how the song blends orchestral sounds with the “honk” sound, I wanted the visuals to reflect that same mix of textures and energy.

MusicsWeek: What was the most rewarding part of working on your latest project?

The 510 Dro:The most rewarding part will always be that I have the ability to make music at all. I’m a communicator, and music is one of the highest forms of expression, connecting with people on a deeply emotional level. Reaching anyone through it is a reward in itself.
