Lola Young has confirmed her return to the stage with a small scale live show at London’s Palladium, set to take place next month.
The date is scheduled for Wednesday March 4 and will mark the former NME Cover star’s first headline appearance of the year. It also signals her comeback after she was forced to cancel touring plans in 2025 while recovering from exhaustion.
Planned as a one off performance, the Palladium show is intended as a gentle reintroduction to live shows, giving Young the chance to reconnect with audiences in an intimate setting. Capacity will be limited and demand is expected to be high, with tickets going on sale next Wednesday February 11 at 10am GMT.
“I’m going to be playing my first headline show in a while. Performing live is everything to me and asking you, my fans to show up for me after cancelling my tour is something I don’t take for granted,” Young said. “I’m aware that with this being a one off show that I can’t accommodate tickets for everyone who bought them previously. I can only hope that in time when I’m able to play bigger shows that you’ll still be willing.”
“Thank you all so much for believing in me, and giving me this time and space. Love you all,” she added.
The night will feature a stripped back but emotionally intense set, with Young performing songs from her latest album ‘I’m Only Fucking Myself’ alongside earlier fan favourites. Visit here for tickets.
The announcement adds to what is already shaping up to be a landmark year for the London born artist. Last weekend she picked up her first Grammy, winning Best Pop Solo Performance for ‘Messy’, and also took to the stage to perform at the ceremony.
Young has also been personally selected by Elton John to appear at his long running AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party on March 15. In addition, she is among the most nominated acts at this year’s BRIT Awards, earning nods for Artist of the Year, Breakthrough Artist, Mastercard Song of the Year for ‘Messy’, Alternative Rock Act and Pop Act.
News of her stepping back from live performances first emerged last year, when Young shared a message with fans explaining she would be “going away” for a period of time after collapsing on stage in New York City due to exhaustion.
After the incident, she posted on Instagram to let fans know she was “doing okay” after being escorted off stage by medical staff, before later confirming she would no longer be able to perform at All Things Go in Washington DC the following day.
She had also been preparing for a UK tour that autumn, but ultimately decided to pause all upcoming commitments for the “foreseeable future” in order to prioritise her mental health.
Support quickly poured in following the announcement, including messages from SZA, who said she was “grateful” for Young’s music and honesty, as well as Victoria Canal, who shared a lengthy post discussing how mentally “unhealthy” life on the road can be for musicians.
