Miley Cyrus is marking the legacy of Hannah Montana with the release of a new song called Younger You, which comes from the show’s 20th anniversary special.
The 33 year old performer is celebrating 20 years since she first became a household name through the hit Disney Channel series. The show followed Miley Stewart, a teenager balancing everyday life while secretly living as a global pop star. To celebrate the milestone, Miley has released a special documentary on Disney+, and on Friday (27.03.26) she will also release new music connected to the celebration.
She shared on Instagram: "Celebrating Hannah Montana isn’t just honoring a show, it’s a full-circle moment for me.
"HM was the beginning of the life I know now. The bond my fans and I share is as rare and beautiful as this whole journey has been.
"I adore you all and love you deeply. This anniversary special is a gift from me to younger you, my way of saying thank you for your loyalty and for growing with me every step of the way.
"This song says it all… 'Younger You (from The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special)' out Friday."
As part of the special, Miley performed several songs from the series such as The Climb and the well known theme song Best of Both Worlds, while Disney also rebuilt parts of the original filming locations.
She also appeared alongside her parents Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus during the programme, and took part in an interview with Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper.
Miley portrayed the lead role in the series from 2006 until 2011, and she has said she enjoyed looking back at that chapter of her life while working on the anniversary project.
She told Extra: "It's pure joy, excitement, and celebration. This special really is a gift not only to the fans, but for myself as well. It's really an honour to celebrate this evolution."
Miley was instrumental in encouraging Disney to move forward with the anniversary project, though she has remained cautious when discussing whether the show could ever return.
When asked about the possibility of a reboot, the singer and actress said: "We'll see what happens in the future."
However, when Variety asked her the same question, she joked: "Girl, I'm already tired! This has already been a lot."
