LISA reflects on her journey from Thailand to global fame on PRESS PLAY

LISA has described her forthcoming solo EP PRESS PLAY as being “like a movie”, with every track representing a different character.

The BLACKPINK singer, whose full name is Lalisa Manobal, uses the project to trace her journey from her childhood in Thailand to her life today.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, she explained: “This EP is about my journey from my roots to where I am right now today.

“There’s a lot of Thai elements in the songs as well, in the EP. And every single song has their own character, their own vibe and we combine it together. It’s like a movie. So you just press play.”

Listeners have already been introduced to the opening song ‘SaWaDiKa’, a title that means “Hello” in her native language.

PRESS PLAY will arrive on October 23.

Alongside her achievements in music, LISA recently moved into acting with her first role in the third season of The White Lotus. However, she made it clear that she has no intention of permanently stepping away from BLACKPINK.

She told Variety: “If I’m 50, I still want to do BLACKPINK. We just finished our tour earlier this year, but we talk a lot about this and have discussions about doing a little break, like I did almost two years ago, but we’re always going to be together.”

In addition to her new EP, LISA is preparing to release a documentary titled Always Lalisa.

The movie includes conversations with the people closest to LISA while giving audiences a glimpse of her more personal and vulnerable side.

When asked why this felt like the right moment to make the documentary, she answered: “I feel like it’s about time. I’m more confident now, so I want to share my story to fans who have a big dream like me.

“I hope that this could inspire them.”

Always Lalisa arrives in cinemas on October 12.
