RAYE has criticised AI bots after revealing that her upcoming This Symphony May Contain Hope concert attracted an astonishing 1.8 million ticket registrations.
The 28 year old singer is taking action after discovering "hundreds of thousands of fake registrations" for her special one night performance at London's Royal Albert Hall on October 23. The show will feature a new orchestral interpretation of her second album, This Music May Contain Hope, released in March, alongside the Heritage Orchestra and Flames Collective.
She shared her frustration on X, writing: "We received 1.8 million sign-ups for 5000 seats for This Symphony May Contain Hope.
"Unfortunately, our registration system was flooded by ticket touts using AI bots to generate hundreds of thousands of fake entries.
"We're living in a different world now, and I've never seen bots operating on this scale before. Making sure my fans have the opportunity to purchase tickets at face value is incredibly important to me."
RAYE and her team have now decided to introduce additional measures, including a manual review of registrations, in an effort to ensure genuine supporters can access the presale.
Explaining the decision, she said: "Instead of risking a presale that could be taken advantage of by scalpers, we decided that the safest and fairest approach for this particular concert was to go through the registration list ourselves and select a shortlist of people we believe are genuine fans."
She confirmed that "those selected will receive their presale link and code by email" on Tuesday (13.10.26) at 11:45am BST, ahead of the sale opening at midday.
Fans who do not receive a presale code will need to wait for the remaining tickets to become available during the general sale.
RAYE ended her message by admitting that the experience had made her reconsider the future of ticket sales.
"I'm not sure what the future holds for ticketing, but I know this experience has really opened my eyes.
"My team and I are going to give a lot of thought to what we can do differently going forward.
"Lots of love, Raye."
The Where Is My Husband! singer had high hopes for This Music May Contain Hope after the success of her 2023 debut album, My 21st Century Blues. However, she revealed in May that the pressure she placed on herself while making the record had taken a significant toll.
Speaking to Billboard, she explained: “There comes a point in life when you have to, or decide to, put one thing ahead of another. For me, work has really been my life over the past year, two years, three years.
"But this past year, with this album, the amount of touring and everything surrounding it, I've definitely pushed myself to my limits.”
Looking back on her demanding schedule, the singer said she was "really happy" with how hard she had worked, but admitted that she wanted "a little bit more balance" after the album's release, with greater attention given to "shows and rest time".
RAYE also made clear that the pressure had come from her own ambitions, as she was the one who decided to take on such a demanding project.
She explained: “I chose to make an album like this, and I was the one who came up with all these ambitious plans and ideas for it, along with everything I wanted to do and accomplish.”
