PALM BEACH, FL – Growing up in East Brooklyn, Ceaser was surrounded by everything that you would see in a low income housing area. However, he stayed focused on things such as school and pursuing his passion for music.
At first, when he began rapping, he dropped bars and hooks on SoundCloud, rapping over 808 drill beats, making what some people would call “high-speed music.” He realized that it would garner him a lot of attention; however, he wanted to broaden his topics and emotional range to be more than just rapping about the sometimes horrific things that would happen from day-to-day, such as the violence of the streets. So, something had to change.
“When I first started rapping, it was about violent things and a lot of drums,” he said. “I feel so connected to my music that I was getting a lot of that violent energy back. Plus, if I could get attention doing all the wrong things, I knew I needed to change for better headspace and guide some of my fans away to deeper topics and concepts that could potentially make them feel different and look at life a lot better.”
While many artists may resist changing their style, Cavalli overcame many obstacles and demonstrated his strength – and it shows in his music. Cavalli focuses on making poetic raps and creating a melodic vibe where you can see his passion for music as an independent artist.
“I’m always looking to be more lyrical and include details,” he said. “It doesn’t matter what sound I’m going for – upbeat, sad, or Drill. I’m going to fill it with details so you can close your eyes and see it.”
Evidence of his mastery is laser-focused in three recent singles: “Save Me,” “No Answers (Remix),” and the upcoming single “Difference, which is set to drop in April. All of these songs display his versatility and honesty.
“Save Me” and “No Answers (Remix)” demonstrate Cavalli’s softer voice that showcases his R&B roots mixed with melodic hip-hop. The song chronicles a male perspective versus a female perspective as each goes through their ups and downs. But both are equally as important.
“It is very different what they are going through, but at the end of the day, you can’t compare them,” he said. “Even though you are going through something, it might not be the same stuff as someone else, but they are going through stuff too.”
The remix version, “No Answer,” is sonically pleasing as Cavalli uses ad-libs and mainly raps with a few vocal licks in the background. With his lyrics, the New York native paints a picture portrayed in the music video for the track.
The music video is a kaleidoscope of colors representing the emotions that continue to change as Cavalli tells both sides of the same coin. The video has more than 41,000 views on YouTube, and as more people are introduced to Cavalli, that number continues to climb.
The single “Don’t Play Fair” is packed with piano licks and bass drops, along with some 808 beats thrown in for good measure. He wrote “Don’t Play Fair” after the death of a friend, and his emotions are on his sleeve. The song is a straightforward plea to end street violence by mentioning dead friends and people who switched up and became elevated from that situation. It already has more than 105,000 views on YouTube.
Displaying his versatility, Cavalli will drop “Difference” in April. The single contains heavy acoustic guitar riffs.
“As humans, we tend to blur the line between good and bad for the benefit of ourselves and our families,” he said. “But along the line, you can hurt a lot of people, and every single person matters. You must broaden your vision and try to see the whole picture. That’s what I’m going to showcase when I drop ‘Difference’ this April.”
As Cavalli continues his rise in the music industry, he remains humble.
“What inspires me to keep doing it is when I see people listening to my music and say that it makes them feel a certain way,” he said. “That gives me the motivation to keep doing it.”
