ATLANTA - As an independent hip-hop artist, KrayZay is a versatile and passionate singer/songwriter who brings the best of himself in his latest EP, “Fourmula.”
Formerly recording as Zay Stylez, the artist has rebranded himself by fine-tuning his sound and dedication to the music scene. “Fourmula” is a cohesive EP that reintroduces KrayZay to the music scene with its March 18 release.
For fans who want Zay Stylez music, do not worry. KrayZay is a melting pot or, as he says, “gumbo pot” of everything he was and so much more. He emphasizes his music by bringing some of the best hip hop, rap, and soul vibes out of Atlanta. “I am not afraid to experiment with melodies,” he said. “It’s music first, but I incorporate my upbringing and future plans.”
Raised in Ft. Lauderdale, KrayZay was surrounded by a harsh urban environment that gave him “good” and “bad” influences. Admitting that he did his share of hustling and dabbled in the street life, he said, “I had my hand in every part of the street. I had homeboys at school and those on the street.”
Taking inspiration from his youth, KrayZay’s music reflects his grit and drive to succeed. With songs that are packed with the southern rap vibes, KrayZay writes music “in everyday life. It comes to me daily and periodically and throughout life in my comin’s and goin’s. I can capture concepts and bars, and before you know it, it’s a song,” he stated.
Vowing to stay fresh and current with each track, KrayZay works with various producers to ensure his sound is never stale and has a bit of new flare in each track while staying true to his roots.
“Fourmula” is a four-track EP with four different producers and songs that travel in different directions. Staying clever and using wordplay, KrayZay brings the beat and sets the stage for a remarkable collection of songs.
Leading off the EP is a high-energy banger, “N 2 Dat (Into That),” produced by Ruonthebeat. Written during the pandemic when the world was at a standstill, “N 2 Dat” is a play on words that showcase KrayZay’s witty and verbose lyrics while banging out the hip hop track.
Completing the EP are the following tracks with their producers: “DGAFness (Tuff Skin)” by Amir Perry; “Rider” by Caesar; and “Selfless Care” by K.E. On the Track.
“They are all my babies and are indicative of my formula,” explained KrayZay. “It is the energy I want to come with and make way for more music.”
KrayZay is coming in hard with more music as he finishes his long-awaited EP. “Fourmula” was not a planned release but living through the pandemic, he spent most of his time writing, and the EP is the result of some of his best work. “Fourmula” is just an appetizer for my upcoming LP,” he said.
While fans can relate to “Fourmula,” they will experience a slightly different vibe and even higher energy on the LP. Continuing to define his unique style and sound, KrayZay said that “Fourmula” is a creative building block that lays the foundation for future releases.
While KrayZay maintains his organic versatility, the future looks bright for him. If “Fourmula” is just an appetizer, reservations are now being taken for a musical feast.
