Choppa Tino, a rapper from Columbia, Tennessee, just dropped his latest single, “Keep Waiting” from “NIAP Volume 1,” the album featuring Tec, Huncho Yolo, Big Phil, and more. The single release comes with a fresh music video and will be followed by a deluxe drop in July.
After spending 11 years in prison, the artist returns with a newfound dedication to pursuing his career in music. For the past 16 months, the artist has been developing his craft, culminating in the release of two mixtapes—“Filthy Money Vol. 1” and “Vent the Mixtape”—now available on all platforms through his label, T.N.B.N Association (Trust None Bar None Association). The label also features artists Lil Raida, Trill5200, J Shiest, and Teflon Baby.
Choppa Tino was adopted by his great uncle as an infant and spent the early years of his life in and out of juvenile detention. While his childhood was less than ideal and often deprived of essentials for a growing boy, Choppa Tino never let that stand in the way of moving forward and achieving.
According to Choppa Tino, his music tells the story of “who I am as person and everything I’ve been through in life.” He wants to show the world that people can get back in the game after hardship—as he demonstrates by working toward his dream after prison time.
When it comes to writing music, Choppa Tino turns to tried-and-true producers (and the internet) to find his beats. “Whatever I feel in the moment—that’s what I go with. I relate my music to myself, my life, something I’ve been through,” he shares of his writing process. “It comes with a lot of hate because you’re telling your story and that might disturb some people.” The artist has no problem being blunt through song; in fact, he even has one “dis track” available. “I don’t mention no name, just speak on the situation.”
When he’s not making music, Choppa Tino still finds himself doing music. “Everything right now revolves around music,” tells the artist. “I might be putting a tape together or going through beats or writing. Or I’ll be living life, taking care of my daughter.”
Up next? Choppa Tino is gearing up for performances and features with other independent artists. “Whatever happens, happens,” shares Choppa Tino of his philosophy of the future. “I’m not rushing things.”
