MusicWeek Staff: Who are your biggest musical influences? In what way did they influence you?

Keyvous: My influences vary, I would have to say that because I’m a singer songwriter I love people like Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Prince . In what way did they influence you? I was heavily influenced with how they added melodics and hooks to records. Change ups and pre choruses into to bigger choruses or catchy choruses is something I’ve learned to contribute to my music.

MusicWeek Staff: What story behind the song "C.A.W.”?
Keyvous: C.A.W is an acronym for Catch A Wave, I originally started to write it for a film and or Television licensing opportunity, but loved the direction I was going and ended up keeping it as a single. The idea of simply spending time with someone that you’re interested in. I wanted to show a honest connection that was positive between two people. It could be love, or it could be lust, but it’s honest.

MusicWeek Staff: How did you describe your process of creating "C.A.W." compared to your other song?
Keyvous: Songs come in waves, sometimes complex, but C.A.W actually came simple, it didn’t take me long to write. I consider my self as a concept writer. So once I had the idea and direction I wanted to go. It just poured out melody and lyric wise.

MusicWeek Staff: With every project comes a challenge, Can you tell us a time were you faces obstacles when creating this music video? How did you handle it?
Keyvous: It’s always a challenge trying to bring your idea to life visually. I knew what I wanted to share, though you never know how it will be perceived. When you’re under a time limit to get stuff done, you can run out of time as you changed things or try things on the spot creatively during filming. I feel I got my point across but had another scene I wanted to film. How did you handle it? I kept positive and filled spots with what I had already shot with my director C Nyce. He did an amazing job at putting the visual together.

MusicWeek Staff: Name a time when your patience in making your video tested.
Keyvous: The weather that day was a little gloomy from it raining out of the blue the day before. I wasn’t sure if we were going to be able to get the correct lighting that was needed. I was a lil frustrated because I only had that time period to shoot schedule wise. Thank goodness, I was finally able to get some outside shots.

MusicWeek Staff: In your experience, what is the key to developing a good team?
Keyvous: Developing a good team comes with one:people believing in the product two: have a plan to execute and follow, and three: loyalty plus trusting one another’s vision while respecting each others ideas.

MusicWeek Staff: Do you think you could get any better as an artist? And if so, how would you achieve that?
Keyvous: Yes for I’m always learning and growing And if so, how would you achieve that? I feel I will achieve that by not being afraid of change or trying new things. Not to be stuck in a box creativity and keep working on my craft as a singer/songwriter.

MusicWeek Staff: Your song "C.A.W.", did you wis you had done something differently? Or have you changed as a person and would change styles/lyrics now?
Keyvous: I really like the direction I chose for C.A.W if anything, I might have added a second verse. That’s the only thing I might have done different. Or have you changed as a person and would change styles/lyrics now? I haven’t changed as a person, nor would I have changed styles for this specific song. Sometimes us as artist we critique ourselves harshly because of how perfect we want to be, but I’ve learned to let things go, things aren’t meant to be perfect, they are just to be good.

MusicWeek Staff: If you could pass on a nugget of wisdom t the next musical generation, what would it be?
Keyvous: To perfect your craft, be authentic, don’t give up and learn the business side as well. Love what you do and do what you love. There are multiple ways an artist can make income off of their work.

MusicWeek Staff: Where can potential fans find out more about you?
Keyvous: I’m blessed to be on most platforms used. Either just as Keyvous or IamKeyvous. Here are some links. I’m always willing to talk or work.
