Music's Week: Who are your biggest musical influences?
Aurora Takeover: Right now my biggest music influences are Brakence, Glaive, and REN. Growing up my biggest influences were My chemical romance and Sleeping with sirens
Music's Week: When/How did you become interested in music?
Aurora Takeover: I became interested in singing when I was very young. As long as I can remember I have been singing. At age 11 I taught myself how to play piano so I could start writing my own songs.
Music's Week: How does this song "See You Die" differ with your previous song?
Aurora Takeover: “See you die” is a lot different than most songs I have ever put out. It is the only song I wrote that is about living with someone you love but your lover is not in the right mental space and is abusing drugs to a high extent. This song was written with the intention of relatability to a scenario that is not written about a lot.
Music's Week: What skills/personal attributes are most important to being successful?
Aurora Takeover: The skills I think help people become successful the most are accountability, determination, and creativity.
Music's Week: How important do you think video is to your music?
Aurora Takeover: Videos for your songs is a very important thing. It can really push a song to new heights if marketed correctly. Videos turn listeners into viewers as well.
Music's Week: What did you hope to achieve with your music video?
Aurora Takeover: For my song “Bleeding” I created a music video. The idea for it was to represent anxiety because that is what the song is about. I dressed up as a nerd for the video and had my friend be mean to me for the intro which later turns into a panic attack. Once the panic attack starts that is when the song starts. It was a fun DIY project me and my friends came up with after breaking down the song lyrics and meanings.
Music's Week: How would you describe your new video to any potential new fan?
Aurora Takeover: To new fans that are going to watch my 3 new music videos for the songs “Misery”, “Bleeding”, and “Come Back New” I would just say that they were made for fun and with 0 budget. It was a blast making them and I think they are a good show that you can start creating content at any level. It’s up to oneself of when you will start to.
Music's Week: What set your music apart? What is unique, or at least uncommon?
Aurora Takeover: My music is definitely hard to put into a specific genre. I am the creator of my own music and I have no clue what to call it. It is almost a mix of radio pop music with the new underground hyperpop genre.
Music's Week: Has your music career journey had a deliberately direction or did it simply gradually evolve in whatever direction it found?
Aurora Takeover: My music career started back in 2014 when I started releasing live recordings of songs I would write onto YouTube. Overtime it morphed into different sounds. It started as writing ballads, to pop, then emo/melodic rap for a while, and now it’s a mix of radio pop and hyperpop. I would have never guessed the trajectory of my own evolution.
Music's Week: Where can potential fans find out more about you?
Aurora Takeover: People can find more about me on my social medias. Instagram, twitter, and YouTube is @auroratakeover.
