6 Guilty Pleasure Films To Binge Following ‘Mea Culpa’

Mea Culpa was never going to give Oscar-winning performances, but for many viewers, it was still an enjoyable film from a purely entertainment standpoint.

The Tyler Perry-written/produced/directed film starred Kelly Rowland as Mea Harper, a defense attorney trying to prove the innocence of Zyair Malloy (Trevante Rhodes), an artist on trial for murder. If you’ve seen A Fall From GraceAcrimony, and Temptation: Confessions Of A Marriage Counselor, you’ll realize there’s a formula to Perry’s action-drama thrillers.

He lures you in with an A-list cast, steamy scenes, a series of sweet-nothings, and a plot that will — hopefully — make sense by the end credits.

After indulging in Mea Culpa and trying to answer questions like, “how can you have a film about a trial without a courtroom scene?,” check out these other guilty pleasure flicks from the late ’90s and early ’00s — with the exception of two — that you may find yourself watching more times than you’d like to admit.
