PVRIS‘ gig in Manchester has been cancelled due to the roof leaking water amidst heavy storms.

The Massachussetts band were due to play at the O2 Victoria Warehouse tonight (May 12) in what would have been their first night on their UK leg of the tour.

However, due to torrential storms that Manchester is currently experiencing, the warehouse was found to be leaking water from the roof. As a result, PVRIS have been forced to cancel their gig tonight.

Taking to social media, the band wrote: “Manchester, we are so sorry to have to cancel the show tonight due to a massive leak in the venue’s ceiling, causing flooding right before doors. We’ve tried everything we could to find an alternative to still perform for you all tonight, but due to circumstances beyond our control, there is unfortunately no option for the show to go ahead.

“We were looking forward to our first gig back in the UK and to spend it with you, and we are just as disappointed, but everyone’s safety is #1 priority. We are doing our best to find a way to reschedule this show ASAP. More info coming as soon as we know more, we are in the dark just as much as you are about the situation. PVRIS”

The band are still expected to play their Glasgow date tomorrow – get any remaining tickets here.

PVRIS last released their album ‘Evergreen‘ in 2023 through Hopeless Records, which Lynn Gunn called “a reclamation of control in our post-pandemic culture, posing a complex discussion on fame, technology, spectacle, and female autonomy.”

She added: “It’s not my job as an artist to cater to certain trends or people’s nostalgia, I have to follow what I feel compelled to follow and do my best to uncover what truths and messages I can find within that. I have to always embrace the risks of change and trust that each stage of my music’s life will resonate with whoever it’s meant to.”

Since then, PVRIS have released their collaboration with Tommy Genesis and Alice Longyu Gao called ‘Burn The Witch’, the lead single to their follow-up album from ‘Evergreen’.

“I’ve been a huge fan of both Tommy and Alice for quite a while so it was an absolute dream to not only have them on a track together but to also get to be crafting the production around their parts,” said Gunn of the collaboration.

It was also revealed the new album was made with an entirely female group of artists, writers and producers: “At its core, I just wanted to make a fun project full of some bad bitches in music that I love and create a space where we can express whatever we want and get to experiment sonically.”
