MusicsWeek: How did you get started in music?
Miss M.: I started performing in talent shows while in elementary school.
MusicsWeek: What inspired you to become a musician?
Miss M.: My father made an attempt like many parents to create a vocal group in the family. I enjoyed singing, so I continued as opportunities came along.
MusicsWeek: What's the most challenging part of being a musician?
Miss M.: The most challenging part is keeping up slightly with the trends, yet not losing your identity as an artist. Hoping the outcome is liked.
MusicsWeek: What genre of music do you identify with, and why?
Miss M.: I'm not stuck in a genre. I write based on what I feel at certain times of creativity, or if someone else has a request. It could be R&B, pop, easy listening, jazz, etc.
MusicsWeek: What inspires your songwriting?
Miss M.: Life is the inspiration, things I see, hear, and experience.
MusicsWeek: How do you balance the need for catchy melodies with the importance of meaningful lyrics?
Miss M.: It’s not something I really spend time thinking about. It’s almost instinct when I write.
MusicsWeek: How do you engage with your fans online and offline?
Miss M.: With the release of this album, I have been more active than usual on social media. I look forward to performing live. I am working to build my social media platform.
MusicsWeek: How do you balance your music career with your personal life, and what self-care practices do you prioritize?
Miss M.: It’s all one. I am not yet in demand so, these are the early stages, so I am not overwhelmed.
MusicsWeek: How do you typically come up with ideas for new songs or projects?
Miss M.: I draw inspiration from life itself - what I see, hear, and experience. It’s not something I consciously think about, it comes naturally. Writing feels instinctive, and I base it on what I’m feeling in those moments of creativity.
MusicsWeek: How do you stay motivated and inspired in your daily life?
Miss M.: Staying motivated is easy when your heart is in it. I looove creating. I love being in the studio, and hearing the results.
