Shania Twain believes a duet with Harry Styles could happen "in the future".
After opening for the former One Direction singer during the UK leg of his Together, Together tour this summer, the You're Still the One star would "love to" join him in the studio. Finding time to record together, however, could prove tricky with their busy schedules.
Discussing the possibility with Us Weekly magazine, she said: “That would definitely be a dream for me to get in the studio with him and just pump out some ideas … whatever would come of it. … But he’s a very busy person right now.
“It’ll take a while to probably nail him down with his schedule. Those times when you’re full-time touring, in a full-time touring mode, it’s very difficult to fit in recording time, but yeah, I think that’s in the future for us.”
As for the music they might make together, Shania explained: “We haven’t actually talked about it because … we’ve just been on different paths. Coming together for the Wembley shows was very, very [rare]. We were very lucky that that worked.
“I don’t know what that would look like. I think it would be very casual and fun. There’d be a lot of laughs. He’s got a great personality. He’s easygoing, and we’re both very creative. So I think it would be just two creative people getting together who have a mutual respect.”
At 61, Shania continues to find inspiration in younger performers, with Harry and Sabrina Carpenter among the artists who have caught her attention.
Reflecting on those connections, she said: "Well, there’s always so much room for inspiration, and being around younger artists and meeting them and performing with them gives me a lot of hope about where we’re going with music and creativity.
"They’re just so full of new ideas, and that’s where inspiration comes from. Being around people that, you know, are doing things you may never have thought of [or] doing things in a different way you may never have.”
Her commitment to Harry’s shows also kept her from attending Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding at Madison Square Garden in New York on 4 July. Although she was "sad" to miss the occasion, Shania stands by her decision.
Speaking about missing the wedding, she admitted: “I really was sad that I couldn’t make that.
“I already committed to Harry, and, of course, I would never go back on a commitment.
“That was just very strange timing. I wouldn’t say it’s unfortunate because I really enjoyed my shows at Wembley. Of course, I loved it … Our stars will have to align another time.”
