MusicsWeek: What led you to pursue a music career?

RPTR: 
The teachings in school were helpful in general knowledge however I soon realized that the only career I wanted to pursue was one that allowed me to express my creativity to the world.
 
MusicsWeek: Which artists have shaped your sound the most?

RPTR: 
Ice Cube, Kanye, & ASAP Rocky are some of my most influential artists who helped shape my sound.
 
MusicsWeek: How would you define your unique musical identity?

RPTR: 
My whole music persona is intended to inspire people to chase their biggest dreams and know that one day it will become a reality.
 
MusicsWeek: Is there a story behind your Artist name 'RPTR'?

RPTR: 
It’s an abbreviation that stands for Reptile Proud To Roar, the dinosaur from the Rug Rats cartoon is essentially my alter ego. Be proud of who you are.
 
MusicsWeek: What’s the first song you ever created, and how did it come about?

RPTR: 
The first song I ever made was born from a tough time in my life, it’s called “Worries” and was inspired by my cousin who is no longer with us.
 
MusicsWeek: How do you usually start writing a new song?

RPTR: 
I listen to different sounds and instrumentals that speak to me. If I deem it worthy I will continue to write out lyrics to then create a song.
 
MusicsWeek: What inspires your lyrics the most, personal experiences or storytelling?

RPTR: 
I usually lean towards rapping about things I have already experienced in my life. It really just depends on the message I want to create with each song.
 
MusicsWeek: Do you enjoy collaborating with other artists, or do you prefer working solo?

RPTR: 
I love working with new artists it helps me push my talent to new levels of creativity and my goal is to make music with as many different artists as possible regardless of their genre.
 
MusicsWeek: When creating a song, do you focus on the melody, lyrics, or beat first?

RPTR: 
The beat is always what I focus on first and sometimes the song will write itself.
 
MusicsWeek: What techniques help you push through creative blocks?

RPTR: 
Sometimes I take a step back, away from anything music-related so that I can draw new experiences in my life to then express it within a song.
