MusicsWeek: Who are your biggest musical influences?

Ray Rogerss:
My biggest musical influences, not in any particular order, are Curren$y, Dom Kennedy, and Wiz Khalifia.

MusicsWeek: What non-musical influences (books, movies, art, etc.) inspire your work?

Ray Rogerss:
The non-musical influences that inspire my creativity are fashion and art (especially Jean-Michael Basquiat), as they are also different forms of expressing yourself, also cars. I love them foreign cars.

MusicsWeek: Is there a particular song or album that has significantly influenced your career?

Ray Rogerss:
Wiz Khalifia's "Kush & Orange Juice" album because it just had a different vibe, he didn't harm anyone on any of the songs, and it was 420 friendly.

MusicsWeek: How do your personal experiences shape your music?

Ray Rogerss:
Well, for me, making music is like a journal; it's therapeutic and gives me a reason to continue doing it. My personal experiences are told to a beat of my liking via the microphone as opposed to keeping it stored and locked away for no one to see but myself.

MusicsWeek: Have your influences changed over the years?

Ray Rogerss:
I would say yes because I'm not the same every year, my music changes and evolves as I do but my core principles of who I am as an artist will always be prevalent in my music going back to the first song I released "Early Bird" in 2018, it's just who I am. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIA9q46GdpA

MusicsWeek: How do you incorporate your cultural background into your music?

Ray Rogerss:
By being a relatable artist, and although it's my journal, I talk about things I've been through, things other people have been through, encountered, or experienced in my culture.

MusicsWeek: What role does nature or your environment play in your songwriting?

Ray Rogerss:
It definitely plays a part, but not so much anymore as my mind expands and I get more creative thinking outside the limits.

MusicsWeek: When did you first realize you wanted to be a musician?

Ray Rogerss:
It stems back from when I was very young and my mom said when Tupac's "Hail Mary" came on that I couldn't even pronounce the words right, but I was singing along to the hook and nodding my head. Actually, I wanted to make beats at first and got a drum machine for Christmas one year, but I wasn't very good at it. When I picked up a microphone for the first time when I was in High School, I knew that was my true calling.

MusicsWeek: What was the first song you ever wrote, and what inspired it?

Ray Rogerss:
In HIgh School I used to be with my friends and cousins in the studio every day and they would say: "are you gonna get on a song or you just gonna sit here everyday and watch", that's when it happened once i got on that microphone I knew what i wanted to do. Although I don't remember the first verse I wrote or the complete song, in my mind, I just knew I had to get better.

MusicsWeek: How did you get started in the music industry?

Ray Rogerss:
Being curious about the music industry and the business of music, and wanting to put out my own music to the masses, is what made me create All Money Good Money, LLC, aka AMGM, which is the label I record under.
