Artist Spotlight: RARA

Rising Egyptian artist RARA has released her electrifying new single, "King of the Glory Game," a cinematic and soul-stirring track that channels cultural pride, global connection, and emotional strength. With her signature haunting yet magnetic vocals, RARA continues to carve out a bold and authentic space in the global pop landscape—this time with a sound that feels as grand as it is heartfelt.

We caught up with RARA to explore the moments that defined their sound — and the vision that drives their next chapter.

MusicsWeek: How did you get started in music?

Rara:
Music has always been a part of my life. Since I was a child, I would constantly sing at home, in kindergarten, even just to myself. My mom noticed my natural interest and enrolled me in music school. At that time, it was simply something I loved doing, but over time, music became much more than a hobby for me.

MusicsWeek: What inspired you to become a musician?

Rara: I’ve always taken my hobbies seriously, and singing was one of them. Gradually, I realized it was what I was best at, so I started focusing more on my voice and training. For me, music is a way to express myself and bring people together. It’s a true passion that eventually turned into my career.

MusicsWeek: Can you tell us a bit about your background and upbringing?

Rara: I grew up in Egypt, where music and life were always intertwined. My environment, culture, and roots are deeply woven into my creative work. My father used to sing to me often, and those moments left a warm mark on my soul that continues to inspire me.

MusicsWeek: What's your favorite memory related to music?

Rara: One of my most powerful memories is working on my song dedicated to Mohamed Salah. Recording the choir, with so many voices coming together into one piece, felt like pure magic and a real sense of unity. That feeling of support and energy is something I will always cherish.

MusicsWeek: What's your biggest passion outside of music?

Rara: Besides music, I love traveling and exploring new cultures. Experiencing different places and people helps me broaden my perspective and often inspires my creativity.

MusicsWeek: How do you stay motivated and inspired?

Rara: I stay motivated by surrounding myself with supportive people who believe in my ideas, even when they seem unusual at first. I’m also very curious and open to new sounds, experiences, and emotions that come from everyday life, movies, books, and even small moments on the street. Taking breaks and reflecting helps me recharge and find fresh inspiration.

MusicsWeek: What's your favorite song to play live?

Rara: I love performing songs that connect deeply with the audience, those moments when the energy between me and the crowd becomes electric. It’s hard to pick one favorite because each live performance brings its own unique feeling.

MusicsWeek: What's your creative process like when writing songs?

Rara: My creative process is very personal and honest. I usually start with an emotion or experience I’m living through. Sometimes it’s a melody or a phrase that comes first, and from there, I build the song. I aim to create something authentic that listeners can feel and relate to, without pretending.

MusicsWeek: Do you have a favorite album or artist that influences your work?

Rara: I don’t have one single influence. Instead, I’ve always been inspired by a wide variety of music and sounds. I absorb everything around me—different genres, voices, rhythms—and that openness shapes my music more than any one artist or album.

MusicsWeek: What's the most challenging part of being a musician?

Rara:
The biggest challenge is balancing the creative side with the business and practical aspects of being a musician. Also, facing moments of doubt or creative blocks can be tough, but having a supportive team helps me push through.
