They Are Gutting a Body of Water has unveiled another new track from Lotto, their upcoming album. “RL Stine” arrives with a music video directed by Richard Phillip Smith, stitched together from hundreds of photos showing city sidewalks, carved tree trunks, and discarded objects, blended with hazy footage of the Philadelphia shoegaze band performing live. Watch it below.
“There is a guy who I see every day near my house,” bandleader Doug Dulgarian said when speaking about the song. “I always buy him a pack of Newport hundreds, knowing full well that he will trade them for crack. I wonder sometimes if it’s the addict in me, enabling the addict in him, or if I fully understand his struggle. Perhaps we’re the same after all.”
“RL Stine” is the fourth track They Are Gutting a Body of Water have shared from Lotto ahead of its October 17 release. It follows “American Food,” “Trainers,” and “The Chase.”
Once the album drops, They Are Gutting a Body of Water will head out on an extended North American tour. The run begins on October 30 in Cleveland, Ohio. It takes the band through major cities across the United States and Canada before wrapping up on December 12 in their hometown of Philadelphia. See the complete list of tour dates below.
