Louis Tomlinson has revealed details of his third solo album, How Did I Get Here?.
The former One Direction singer will release the follow-up to 2022’s Faith in the Future on January 23, 2026.
Louis has already introduced the record with its lead single Lemonade, and he admits he finally feels like he is becoming the artist he always dreamed of being.
In a statement, he explained: “I would describe it as the record I always deserved to make. Honesty is at the core of everything I do. I truly wear my heart on my sleeve, and I hope that comes across in the music. I am still learning and improving as both a singer and songwriter. Complacency is not something I can accept; it is simply not who I am. For the first time, I am letting myself become the artist I had always imagined I could be.”
Recently, Louis hinted that he has a strong sense of optimism about this new chapter.
Posting on X last month, he wrote: “Just sat listening to the new record and I’ve got a really really good feeling this time round! Can’t wait for you all to hear it!!”
Back in April, Louis told a fan on X that the songs carry a “sunny” feel with a little bit of “chaos” mixed in.
He also stressed in earlier interviews that he wanted to take his time in shaping his third album.
At the Rolling Stone Awards UK in 2023, when asked whether he had written new material, he replied: “It’s funny, I ended up writing maybe four or five songs during one of the tour breaks. I do not know when the next record is coming, but for me, once I start writing, I just want to share it immediately. That is why I am forcing myself to take a bit more time with this one. When it will be ready, who knows.”
Louis made his solo debut with Walls in 2020, a record that leaned heavily into Britpop and indie influences.
Now 33, the singer will next bring his The Away From Home Festival to Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown, New York on October 3 and 4.
He will share the headline slot with Lauv.
The lineup will also feature Steve Aoki, Plain White T’s, Daya, Pale Waves, Circa Waves and DJ Zach Sang.
