Celine Dion has shared a message focused on peace and love in honour of the Thanksgiving celebration in the United States.
The iconic performer reminded her followers in a social media post that the holiday offers a chance to “slow down, take a deep breath, and give thanks.”
“There is something incredibly meaningful about gathering with the people you love, whether it is around a full table, over the phone, or simply in your heart,” she added.
“I am so grateful for my family and for the moments we have together that mean everything to me.”
In 2016, Dion lost her husband René Angélil to throat cancer at the age of seventy three.
Only two days after his passing, Dion’s older brother Daniel died from brain, throat and tongue cancer.
In 2019, the My Heart Will Go On singer told People magazine that she discovered a strength within herself that she never expected to find after experiencing such profound loss.
“To bring my children to understand, ‘Do not look for Dad,’ that made me strong,” she explained while speaking about Angélil’s death.
“All the little things, and the big things, they have to make you stronger. Otherwise, you do not understand the meaning of life itself.”
In 2022, Dion faced another difficult chapter when she received a diagnosis of stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological condition that can cause severe muscle spasms. The illness has prevented her from performing consistently. Still, the five time Grammy winner has made it clear that she remains determined to return to the stage.
“All I know is singing,” she said. “It is what I have done all my life. And it is what I love to do the most.”
Closing her Thanksgiving message, Dion said, “May your Thanksgiving be filled with joy, with peace, and with gratitude for everything, even the little things. Happy Thanksgiving from me and my family to you and yours.”
