The first full week of sales for Lil Baby’s newest project, The Leaks, has now been reported. According to Kurrco, the project is expected to move thirty four thousand units in its first complete tracking week, which would place it at number seventeen on the Billboard 200. Baby released the project on Wednesday, December 3, meaning it only had a single day of tracking for its initial chart week. At that time, it entered the chart at number one hundred fifty after moving eleven thousand units.
On Tuesday morning, Lil Baby responded to an NBA YoungBoy supporter on X (formerly Twitter) who attempted to mock him for the low debut numbers. “Dam yb leaks projects outsold shocking,” the fan wrote. Baby replied, “One day not first week crazy.”
Lil Baby originally planned to release The Leaks in September, but the project ended up being pushed back with no clear date. Leading up to its eventual release on December 3, he began dropping a new song every Wednesday for a run he called Wham Wednesdays. Among these tracks were “Try to Love”, “Otha Boy”, “Real Sh*t”, and “Middle of the Summer.”
When the project finally arrived, it doubled as the celebration of Baby’s thirty first birthday. Posting on Instagram at the time, he wrote, “Happy B Day To Me ! What’s A Better Way To Get The World To Celebrate Wit Ya , Then Dropping A Tape ?? ‘The Leaks’ Out Nowwwwwww ! Shoutout To Whoever Be Leaking My Sh*t , Yall Made This Possible!!”
The full tracklist features guest appearances from Playboi Carti, Skooly, Lil Yachty, Lucki, Veeze, Young Thug, Rylo Rodriguez, Bino Rideaux, and G Herbo. On the production side, contributors include June the Genius, Wheezy, Frankie Bash, Murda Beatz, TM88, and others.
For the final version of the song “Superman,” Young Thug removed references to his former collaborator Gunna. In an earlier leaked version, he directed a diss toward him. Their tension stems from Gunna taking a plea agreement in the YSL RICO case back in 2022.
