Doechii and SZA have closed out 2025 by releasing a brand new collaboration. You can watch the video for ‘Girl, Get Up’ below.

The song marks the duo’s first collaboration since 2022’s ‘Persuasive’ and sees them linking up this time with New Jersey producer Jay Versace, who also worked on SZA’s 2022 album ‘SOS’.

Set against a stripped back and tightly wound beat, Doechii uses her verses to confront her critics head on. “All that industry plant shit whack / I see it on the blogs, I see you in the chats,” she delivers. “Y’all can’t fathom that I earned this chart / Y’all can’t stand my vibe ‘cause I’m anointed.”

SZA handles the smooth and soulful hooks, while the accompanying video shows Doechii relaxed and self assured, cruising on a yacht and standing atop a stadium rooftop as she reflects on how far she has come.

‘Girl, Get Up’ is Doechii’s most high profile release since ‘Anxiety’ earlier this spring, a track she originally recorded in 2019 before rerecording and reissuing it after it began to pick up momentum on TikTok. The renewed attention helped propel her to five Grammy nominations, following the success of her 2024 mixtape ‘Alligator Bites Never Heal’, which went on to win Best Rap Album at the Grammys.

Later in the year, she brought her ‘Live From The Swamp Tour’ to North America in October and November, after being forced to cancel several UK festival appearances over the summer.

Despite that, she still delivered a standout headline performance on the West Holts stage at Glastonbury 2025. In a four star review, NME praised the set as “a masterclass in hip-hop”.

The review added: “This may not be the typical Glastonbury set full to the brim with special guests but in just 45 minutes, the Tampa star showcases what she does best and why she’s one of rap’s brightest lights. Consider us schooled.”

‘Anxiety’ has also since been named among TikTok’s top 20 global songs of 2025.

Meanwhile, SZA also enjoyed a huge year, with her joint tour alongside Kendrick Lamar ranking as the fourth highest grossing tour of 2025. She also earned a place on Barack Obama’s music of the year list and ended the year by criticising Donald Trump for using her music in an ICE related video.
