Nick Jonas has shared an honest reflection on feeling anxious while promoting his latest solo release, Gut Punch.

The Jonas Brothers member welcomed New Year’s Day and the arrival of the song with a heartfelt video posted to Instagram, where he looked back on the past year and spoke openly about his mindset heading into 2026.

“2026 is officially here. Honestly, I can’t believe how big 2025 felt,” he said in the clip. “It was genuinely one of the best years of my life.”

The 33 year old explained that releasing new music on the first day of the year brought up a mix of emotions and self reflection.

“Right now I’m feeling everything that comes with a fresh start,” he shared. “There’s reflection, there’s definitely a bit of anxiety, but I wanted to pause that and say I chose to release Gut Punch today because it matches all of those emotions.”

Speaking about what inspired the song, Nick said it was written with others in mind who might be experiencing similar feelings.

“There’s so much pressure to show up as the best version of yourself when a new year begins, and that just isn’t realistic and that’s okay,” he said. “I’m going to step away, hug the people I love, and take a moment to appreciate the small things. Those quiet moments with the people who matter most.”

The Waffle House singer, who shares his three year old daughter Malti with his wife, actress Priyanka Chopra, wrapped up the video with a hopeful message about the year ahead.

“You’re not defined by your pain or your past mistakes,” he said. “I truly believe 2026 is going to be a really good year for all of us. Sending so much love and thank you for being here.”

Nick added a lighthearted note in the caption, joking, “Feeling emotional. Might take this down later.”
