Dropkick Murphys have announced they will hold a memorial concert in Minneapolis to honour Alex Pretti and Renee Good.
The Celtic punk group behind Shipping Up To Boston are scheduled to play at the Palace Theatre on March 6, and have now confirmed an additional acoustic performance earlier that day to pay tribute to the two individuals who were killed by ICE agents earlier this year.
In a statement, frontman Ken Casey said: "We are so proud of how Minnesota stood up and met this moment and we are so sad for the community and for the Pretti and Good families for what they’ve gone through.
“[So] it is an honor to come down and be able to play some music for the people and let them know we stand in solidarity with them.”
The line up will also include local performers such as Wild Colonial Bhoys, DJ Jacques, Kiss the Tiger, Sophie Hiroko, Chutes, Laamar, Obi Original, and the Shackletons.
Fans who cannot attend in person will be able to tune in via a livestream, while those in the area can watch from the Black Forest Inn parking lot, located near where Pretti was killed.
The venue sits at the corner of 26th and Nicollet Avenue, an area widely known as Eat Street.
Although entry to the event is free, it will also act as a fundraiser supporting several local organisations and relief efforts, including Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Show Up For East Street, Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota, rent support initiatives, and the South Minneapolis Families Fund.
Anna Schmitz, executive director of Whittier Alliance, added: “We’re looking forward to having a time for the community to come together to honor Alex’s life and show the strength, resilience, and beauty of this neighborhood.”
The concert will also be streamed worldwide through the AlobishICE.live website.
Dropkick Murphys have consistently spoken out against US President Donald Trump and his administration.
They recently released a protest track titled Citizen I.C.E., which reworks their earlier song Citizen CIA from their 2005 album The Warrior's Code.
Last year, the band released their 13th studio album For The People, which included a reunion with longtime member Al Barr on the track The Vultures Circle High, marking his return after stepping away for five years to care for his ill mother.
The album also features guest contributions from the Scratch, the Mary Wallopers and Billy Bragg.
