Kodak Black is no longer dealing with legal action tied to the 2022 shooting outside The Nice Guy in Los Angeles. The incident happened on February 12 of that year while he was attending a Super Bowl Weekend event hosted by Justin Bieber. Two men, Mark Schaefer and Adam Rahman, had claimed that Kodak played a role in escalating the situation and provoking the gunman. However, TMZ now reports that they have officially withdrawn their lawsuit.
Kodak’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, told the outlet that no financial agreement was reached and that the plaintiffs do not plan to file the case again. He did not hold back in his response. "This lawsuit filed by Gloria Allred, might have been the dumbest, most ridiculous lawsuit I have ever read. As I said when this idiotic lawsuit was filed, they would not get a dime. This was light work for me and our L.A. office run by Zoe Aron. Luckily for them, our client decided to forgo filing a motion for his attorney fees, and let them whimper away with their tail between their legs. This should be a warning and a lesson to dopey attorneys, filing dopey lawsuits, come for our clients and we will come for you."
When the lawsuit was first submitted, Schaefer and Rahman also named Justin Bieber as a defendant, though they later removed him from the complaint. Initially, they sought $62 million in damages, but a judge rejected that amount. They then tried again with a request for $10.6 million, which was also denied.
Kodak Black's Super Bowl Shooting
The shooting occurred during a private gathering Bieber hosted for Super Bowl Weekend. Among the other notable guests were Lil Baby, Drake, and Gunna.
Kodak was struck in the leg during the chaos. Schaefer suffered a gunshot wound above his right ankle, while Rahman was hit in the left shoulder. “I witnessed Kodak Black initiate the altercation with patrons outside of the subject location, which was the catalyst for the series of events that led to gun violence,” Rahman claimed in a court filing last year.
