Artist Spotlight: Pran
For rising Thai pop artist Pran, love isn’t a destination—it’s a process. On his latest single, “’Til The End For You,” the singer-songwriter and producer continues an emotional storyline that began with his earliest release, offering listeners a deeper look at what happens after healing.
With wisdom and candor, Pran opens up about the creative process, personal growth, and why the music still matters.
MusicsWeek: When did you begin to see music as more than a personal outlet?
Pran: To be honest, I still see it as mostly a personal outlet, but I’m just sharing it with other people, and they seem to have liked it. It’s mostly my own perfectionism that made me want to improve the quality of it and bring it up to industry standards
MusicsWeek: What personal traits do you think most influence your creative decisions?
Pran: I have this side of me that loves experimenting with things. So when I make music, I like trying out new sounds and new ways of combining it together. Another thing that helps me creatively is that I often get bored easily so it becomes motivation to create new things constantly.
MusicsWeek: How would you describe the elements that define your sound today?
Pran: My sound is a combination of hip-hop drums, EDM synth and pop vocal combined together in a way that sounds sharp, smooth and clear.
MusicsWeek: How do you approach evolving musically while maintaining consistency in your work?
Pran: In my mind, I like to think of it as a 50/50 split when it comes to learning new things musically and maintaining consistency in the production of new songs. In reality, though, about 80 percent of the evolution is just me learning by doing. The other 20 is me taking inspiration from other songs.
MusicsWeek: Have there been any recent shifts in the way you think about your sound or style?
Pran: Recently, I wanted to be more creative and try to add new genres and instruments into each new song. I also wanted to branch out to other topics that don’t involve love, but I haven’t really found what I’m looking for yet. The other thing that I wanted to do is to try to be more personal about what I write about in both the music and the lyrics.
MusicsWeek: What influences your decisions when experimenting with new musical ideas?
Pran: Mostly, I started my music by just copying the sounds and melodies in my head into the program. Then, I started to see what instruments or sounds would match with the initial idea or what more I wanted to add to it. So if the sound in my head is new, then the song would be a new thing completely. Or after the initial stage, is where I mostly come up with new ideas in my song if I see it fit with the original idea.
MusicsWeek: What was the focus or intention behind your most recent release?
Pran: My initial intention for this song is that I wanted to write a happy love song to switch up from the heartbreak of the previous one. I also found the opportunity to connect the story of the previous song to this one, so that it is a good coincidence as well, so I might continue the story in other songs.
MusicsWeek: How did the creation of this project differ from your earlier work?
Pran: This one I had help from my manager, who sent me multiple reference songs as a guide, whereas the previous one I made from scratch.
MusicsWeek: What aspects of your latest project feel most representative of where you are now?
Pran: I think the feeling of the song is that I’m not in a healing stage anymore, but now just living day by day and keep on committing to the love in my life.
MusicsWeek: What role do listeners play in motivating you to continue creating?
Pran: It feels very nice when other people listen to my music and like it. It kinda makes me feel heard and understood somehow. It doesn’t really influence whether I still make music, but it influences whether I’d still publish it.
