Metallica frontman James Hetfield has gotten engaged to his partner after proposing beneath the water while the pair were on a shark diving experience.
The band’s official social media accounts posted a photo taken underwater showing Hetfield alongside his fiancée Adriana Gillett, with the singer holding a message board that asked: "Adriana Gillett, will you marry me?"
The image was shared with the simple caption, "She said yes!"
Gillett also posted the photo on her own Instagram account, where she shared her excitement about the moment and wrote: "The best birthday trip surprise. Swimming with whale sharks on Friday the 13th with the most unique, special, and romantic proposal a Pisces could ever imagine. In a sea full of fish, we caught each other. Thank you God for putting us together".
In 2022, TMZ first reported that Hetfield and his wife Francesca were ending their marriage after 25 years together.
Francesca later spoke publicly about the separation, explaining that after three decades filled with both challenges and love, she felt "extremely saddened that my marriage has come to this".
Metallica have also recently revealed plans for a residency at the Las Vegas Sphere, first announcing eight performances scheduled between October 1 and October 31. Due to overwhelming ticket demand, additional shows were later added, increasing the total to 24 concerts running from October through March 2027.
