The track serves as the third single from Dave Grohl and the band’s upcoming 12th studio album, ‘Your Favorite Toy’, which is set to arrive on April 24 through Roswell Records and Columbia Records. It follows the earlier releases ‘Asking For A Friend’ and the album’s lead single.

“This is just a test/ Of a broken broadcast system/ Consider this an evaluation/ Of my hallucinations,” Grohl shouts during the opening verse. “But this is not a test/ This is a conversation/ I have another proposition/ Only under one condition.”

The gritty new track leans into the band’s signature rock style, with Grohl delivering the chorus: “I got caught in the echo again/ From side to side/ I’ve been caught in the echo again/ Decide, decide, decide, decide.”

‘Caught In The Echo’ also arrives alongside an official lyric video which you can watch here:

Foo Fighters also debuted another unreleased track called ‘Of All People’ during their recent run of smaller shows across the UK and Ireland, including stops in Dublin, London and Manchester.

The group are also preparing to head out on their European ‘Take Cover’ tour later this year, which includes two shows at Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium. You can find any remaining tickets here. Their festival appearances across Europe will include Mad Cool, Nos Alive and Pinkpop among others.

They also have several North American shows planned across the summer and autumn, and have confirmed tour dates in Australia and New Zealand scheduled for both 2026 and 2027.

Earlier this year, Grohl said that the band’s new album is filled with “uptempo” songs and “noisy, loud bangers” that capture the spirit of their earlier material.

In a later conversation, Grohl was asked about the fact that The Beatles ended their career after their 12th album ‘Let It Be’, and he admitted he is unsure when Foo Fighters might eventually release their final record.

“Every record has been our last record,” he explained. “So, I kind of feel like at this point you just kind of you make a record and you go, ‘OK, well, let’s do it again and let’s see what happens’.”

NME awarded the title track from ‘Your Favorite Toy’ four stars, describing it as a “futureproof rock beast” that feels “snarlingly unapologetic”. The upcoming album follows their 2023 release ‘But Here We Are’ and marks the first Foo Fighters project to feature new drummer Ilan Rubin following the departure of Josh Freese.

Elsewhere, Grohl has spoken about how the passing of former drummer Taylor Hawkins “made me question everything about life”, adding: “I still have a hard time making sense of it.”

He has also previously talked about how difficult it was to find the right drummer to continue the band’s journey after Hawkins died.

In other news, Foo Fighters’ intimate Dublin performance titled ‘Live At St James’ Church’ is also set to be broadcast globally and shown on television over the Easter weekend.
