Doja Cat Talks Love Life And Why She Sometimes Responds To Online Hate

Doja Cat opened up about several personal subjects in her Vogue cover interview published Wednesday (March 18), including her dating life and her complicated history with criticism on the internet.

When asked if she still sees herself as someone who dates frequently, a label she has used for herself before, the rapper answered without hesitation. “Yes,” she told the magazine. “I’m 30, so I’m ovulating and horny.”

After addressing that topic, Doja confirmed she is currently seeing someone, although she chose not to reveal their identity. She did mention that her partner plans to visit her while she is touring in support of her Billboard 200 No. 4 album Vie from last year. She also joked that one of her favorite parts of the relationship is “when they leave.”

“This is what therapy has done for me,” she continued. “It’s allowed me to be away and be at peace without being like, ‘I need tarot cards. I need an answer. Text me.’ I don’t do any of that anymore. It’s very nice.”

The Grammy winning artist had previously been romantically connected to Joseph Quinn. Speculation about the two began in 2024 and followed a public disagreement in 2022 involving Quinn’s Stranger Things co star Noah Schnapp, who had shared screenshots of Doja asking if Quinn was single without her consent. Earlier in her dating history she had also been linked to musician J. Cyrus.

Her exchange with Schnapp, which ended with Doja apologizing to the former child actor, is just one example of her tendency to confront situations publicly online. Shortly before the Vogue story was released, she also criticized Timothée Chalamet after he commented that “no one cares” about opera and ballet. She later softened her stance and admitted she had simply been “virtue signaling” when she made those remarks.

Doja has also often responded directly to people criticizing her on social media, something she reflected on in the interview. “When I feel that I’m threatened, even though it may not be a threat at all, it rhymes with: You are failing,” she said. “I feel like I have to defend my creative choices, and then I give those people power even though they could be anybody they could have Cheeto dust on their fingers and have no job.”

She added that therapy has helped her step back from reacting as much as she once did, following her recent revelation earlier this month that she had been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. “I’m not cured of anything,” Doja added, also sharing that she believes she might have pursued psychology if she had not become a musician. “But it helps me understand why I do the things that I do.”
