Aussie Artist VITA Breaks Norms with Genre-Fluid singles ‘BADBADBAD’ and ‘Drive,’ and Upcoming EP ‘LIBRE’

LOS ANGELES – “VITA” means life in Italian. For breakout multidimensional artist VITA, life, pushing the boundaries of society, and encouraging her fans to do the same is what her life is about - it is her destiny.

Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, VITA has defined her sonic and creative identity, putting her in a league of her own, blending R&B, punk, and alternative to create her specific R&B indie style.

“My music within itself is so personal. The way I mix genres is heavily influenced by my growing up,” VITA said. “There was Aussie punk, EDM, and Aussie rock. It was a tidal wave of things over my life that pushed me to be in the place of freedom and self-expression.”

As a melody-based songwriter, VITA’s drum-oriented sound contains a heavy bass line like a Rage Against the Machine-type vibe coupled with experimental drums.

“I think the unique thing about my music is that there is nothing comparable. I think that was our main goal from the beginning to make something that really and truly was unique to me,” she said.

While “BADBADBAD” was the first track dropped from VITA’s upcoming EP, “LIBRE,” the single “DRIVE” hit March 11, and the video dropped March 14. VITA uses a CGI visualizer to mix CGI and real images to create a unique universe as a trailblazer. VITA credits her producer and creative partner naz for his genius in making all the art and visuals she uses.

“Essentially, ‘DRIVE is a metaphor for telling everyone who wants to define you into something to f*ck off,” she explained. “It’s me deciding to shut everything off and drive into the distance.”

With musical influences that range from Rihanna to Kevin Parker to Rage Against The Machine, VITA’s sound is impossible to define with modern language. Her craft defies genre lines and forces fans to envision a separate world where her music lives.

“My music is indicative of what I am going through - my life experiences are on a platter,” she said. “‘LIBRE’ is about a time in my life that I felt very controlled by external sources, like family or society. ‘LIBRE’ is finding my freedom. Getting all this out was like going to the top of the mountain and yelling. It’s a stream of consciousness, like a boxing lesson and hitting a bag.”

Fans will get an inside view of VITA’s freedom journey when “LIBRE” drops on March 25 on Guin Records.

“I want to encourage people to always fight for what is right and do it as loud as possible. This music is supposed to make you really feel something. We’re all angry, we all want change, we all want to feel like we can be ourselves.”
