HANOVER PARK, ILLINOIS - Considered to be the quieter half of fraternal twins, Intourresting is making some noise with his first-ever single, “Step By Step.”
Born in Cameroon, Intourresting moved to the U.S. in 2005, settling in a suburb outside Chicago. Devoting his life to music, Intourresting writes and produces his music while continuing to learn more about the business.
Still defining and perfecting his unique sound, “Step By Step” is a trap-filled track with a pop influence. Using witty wordplay with trap drums and melodies, Intourresting showcases his energetic and powerful raps.
With two versions differing in length, “Step By Step” encourages listeners to follow their dreams and ignore the static from others. “With this first song, I was truly able to represent a version of myself that I intend to move forward in the industry,” he said. “You must focus on what matters to you and don’t listen to people who tell you differently. At the end of the day, it’s your life.”
Intourresting said the single originated when he was freestyling and used the term step by step as a rapper. “The main words were step by step, which got me thinking about when people say, ‘You can talk the talk but not walk the walk.’ So, I wanted to write a song about walking the walk,” he explained.
Intourresting began his journey as an artist at the age of 18, as the healing properties of music saved him. Wasting no time, he worked at producing hip-hop beats and began writing raps at 19. He draws inspiration from various genres, including grunge rock, trap, pop, 2000s R&B, and even classical music. His current style of music can be described as “chill/relaxed hype,” drawing more heavily from trap and pop influences.
“Music today is very depressing and self-centered, at least in the rap scene; it focuses on their lives. It doesn’t make you feel much past that,” he said. “What inspires me is motivating and putting light on subjects people don’t want to talk about. I like to take something everyone knows and flip it, so they consider it more.”
He acknowledges that his search for his identity as an artist allowed him to get past childhood trauma, such as the hate and anger he stored deep inside. Therefore, Intourresting is on a mission to help others who walk in the shadows.
While Intourresting is riding the high of his first single’s release, he continues to explore his talent and total depth of his music and the music he is yet to create. Currently, he is in the studio putting the finishing touches on three singles and a possible upcoming EP.
