Tampa Artist Ananya Out to Make World Feel Better with Music.

TAMPA, Fla. — Singer-songwriter Ananya makes sure all her music has a positive spin, even if she’s singing something of a sad song.

Her newest single, ‘Searching’ is that kind of song. It talks about the search for that special someone while preaching patience and keeping true to one’s own values.

“Everyone says you’ll find someone eventually but it’s like ok, I'm looking around, I'm searching, I'm waiting but nothing seems to be happening,” Ananya said. “You’re just waiting and searching for that person. Then the chorus goes into it, it says ‘for the one in the shining armor, to keep me safe and warmer, to keep me saner when I’m running out of willpower.’ I want it to be the right person, not just ‘someone’.”

Ananya was born in India and was trained in Indian classical music as a child.

She said those Indian rhythms and themes, combined with her more recent exposure to western music, creates a classic sound that’s all hers.

“I started with Indian classical music when I was 4 and I was trained in that for about seven years. I've always been very interested in music because of that,” she said. “Of course, growing up in America, I was also listening to western music. I got very interested in musicals and did some vocal training in the western technique in middle school.”

Ananya said she remembers writing silly songs as a kid about hot chocolate or the seasons, anything that piqued her fancy. At the age of 13, she started taking her writing more seriously. 
And she’s not just writing the lyrics and relying on others for the beat or melody–Ananya writes the lyrics, melody, and music herself.

“I write music on piano and I recently started writing on guitar as well,” Ananya said. “I’m very influenced in terms of rhythm by my Indian classical training, so my songs tend to be very syncopated or rhythmically complex. Otherwise I think my sound is very melodic–I like strong but light melodies.”

She released her first pop single, “Before I Call You Baby,” in October 2021, her second single, “This is it,” a pop-flavored ballad, on Aug 15, 2022, and her third single, “Blarb 361” a whimsical story, on Oct. 14, 2022.

Ananya said she’s always trying to convey a positive message with all her music, including the new single “Searching,” and her more recent release, “Blarb 361.”

Through her lyrics, she aims to instill a sense of empowerment in the listener. Her purpose is to uplift society through her musical messages and help other artists do the same. 

“I want to convey something uplifting by the end of the song, even if it’s a sadder song or more melancholic like ‘Searching’ is,” she said. “I think I just want to say it’s ok. You don’t have to flow and try to be with people even if it’s not exactly what you're looking for just because everyone else has somebody. It’s ok to just chill out and be patient and wait for the right person who is really what you want.”

Ananya said “Searching” will be released on all platforms on March 3, 2023.
