S. Coop grew up collecting records, spinning them, performing and sharing his love of Reggae with those around him. Today he is an accomplished musician and lyricist, sharing beautiful and energetic tracks with fans and telling his story in the best way he knows. Recently, Coop has revamped one of his older songs, stripping it down and truly exposing the raw and insightful lyrics underneath.
Coop began his artistic career spinning tracks with his friends as a teen, but has built himself up to a notable career as a musician. Not only did he begin by creating his own record label -- a venture he and a friend took on side by side when they were young -- he went on to release two separate projects. Though he took some time away from music after this, he is now back with renewed passion and so much to say.
His newest single, titled “Original”, is a beautiful and brilliantly executed song. Peeled back to nothing more than piano, sticks, snaps and his own voice, Coop truly shows what he is capable of. While the original is still a great track, there is truly just something different about this one.
Coop took inspiration for this project while listening to a friend’s beat track. “It just came out of me,” he said. “I started on the chorus and the rest really all just fell into place.” The song, promoting a sense of connection and community, has since become an easy listen and incredible addition to any playlist.
“This song is really all about the lyrical content,” he explained. “It used to have a lot more to it, but this stripped down version really allows you to listen to what’s being said.” The song, coming from Coop’s own life while growing up and experiencing the world. “It’s really about supporting each other. Standing up strong and being a community.”
Coop hopes that his audience will take the time to listen to and really resonate with the lyrics in this song, as well as what he has to say in his other tracks. “I hope people can really appreciate and resonate with what I’m saying in my songs,” he said.
Following the release of “Original”, Coop is excited to release a collection of new tracks in the near future and connect with his fans in several other ways. “I am really looking forward to getting more into performing and sharing more of my music with the community around me.”
