SCHOOLBOY Q’S ‘BLUE LIPS’ FIRST WEEK SALES PROJECTIONS ARE HERE

ScHoolboy Q is projected to have a promising week propelled by the release of his latest album, Blue Lips, which seems to be landing well with fans.

According to Hits Daily Double, the Interscope rapper’s latest offering Blue Lips — his first full-length release in five years — is anticipated to make a strong debut with initial sales projections suggesting it will amass 30-35k album-equivalent units in its first week of release.

Q dropped the follow-up to 2019’s CrasH Talkon Friday (March 1). While it remains to be seen how those numbers will compare with other release this week, the project numbers are about half of what the TDE rapper saw with his last release, which debuted at no. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with 74,000 album-equivalent units.

The 18-track disc boasts appearances from the likes of Freddie Gibbs, Ab-Soul and Rico Nasty, as well as production from The Alchemist, Cardo and DJ Khalil, among others. Gibbs’ guest verse on “oHio” has already made waves thanks to some choice words aimed at the Indiana native’s long-running rival Akademiks.

On “oHio,” Gangsta Gibbs takes aim at Akademiks by calling him a “pussy n-gga” and threatening violence against him if they cross paths.

“Smack a n-gga in his mouth for the loot/ If I ever see that pussy n-gga Akademiks I’ma catch another lawsuit,” he raps.

Freddie Gibbs and Akademiks have engaged in a longstanding feud, stemming from the media personality branding the rapper “irrelevant” in response to Gibbs’ criticism of his former label boss, Jeezy.

Ahead of the album’s release, ScHoolboy Q stormed the stage at The Tonight Show for his first live performance of his new album Blue Lips.

Hitting Jimmy Fallon’s long-running show on Thursday night (February 29), Q performed the Freddie Gibbs-assisted album highlight “oHio,” though Gibbs himself wasn’t on hand for his verse.

Instead, Q held it down solo – and even got the green light from Jimmy that his incessant cursing wasn’t an issue.

Prior to the release of Blue Lips, ScHoolboy Q had high praise for Freddie Gibbs, claiming he “washed” him on “oHio.”

The Bandana MC replied on X: “We make classics bro congrats on the album glad to be a part of it.”

“oHio” is the second collaboration between the two rappers after Q featured on Gibbs’ “Gang Signs,” which ended up appearing on the bonus edition of the latter’s 2022 album $oul $old $eperately.
