Exclusive Interview with Rosita

Music's Week: What inspired your latest album or single, and what do you hope listeners take away from it?

Rosita:
I was inspired by actual events. I think unfortunately we have all been either the other person or have had another person. I think it comes from us looking for something in other people that we can’t find in ourselves. I love using actual events in my music and see it as a form of therapy.

Music's Week: Can you tell us about your songwriting process? Do you have any rituals or habits that help you get into a creative flow?

Rosita:
I do most of my creative work in the car during rush hour. I prefer not to drive with music on and just ride in silence. Surprisingly that’s when I get most of my song ideas.

Music's Week: Who are some of your biggest musical influences, and how do you think they've shaped your sound?

Rosita:
My musical influences are kind of all over the  place lol. I like Lana Del Rey, Cyndi Lauper, Toni Braxton, Da Braț, and Doja Cat. They all have very unique voices and I love how they’ve embraced them.

Music's Week: What do you think sets your music apart from other artists in your genre?

Rosita:
I think I have my own unique sound. I used to dislike my voice because I had a whole California-Mississippi-New Orleans thing going on since I’ve spend time in all those places. But I’ve grown to accept it.

Music's Week: You've had the opportunity to tour and perform with other artists. What's been your favorite experience so far, and why?

Rosita:
I have a song coming out soon called “Fanned Out” with Roosta93. He called me one day and ask if I could come on stage with him so we could give the audience a sample of the song during his set. It just felt so natural on stage. And it was in Jackson MS so there were so many talented artists performing that day and I was inspired.

Music's Week: How do you balance your creative vision with the demands of the music industry?

Rosita:
Coming from modeling and acting when I was a child, I already came into the music industry with a tough skin. But I know it’s all trial and error. Im being the best version of myself that I can be, some will love it, some will hate. It’s just part of the game.

Music's Week: Can you walk us through your recording process? Do you prefer working with producers, or do you prefer to produce yourself?

Rosita:
I like choosing my idea first that I want to touch on. Mostly based on where I am in my life at that moment. Then I pick my beat. Afterwards I choose who I want to work with as far as producers, features, etc. I love a team.

Music's Week: What do you hope fans will take away from your live shows? What kind of experience do you want them to have?

Rosita:
I want fans to be entertained. As long as fans laugh with me, laugh at me, sing along, etc that means I have done my job as an entertainer by entertaining them.

Music's Week: How do you stay inspired and motivated to continue creating new music?

Rosita:
I stay digging deep inside myself for new topics. What makes me laugh? What makes me cry? What am I going through right now in my life that I need to talk about?

Music's Week: Are there any upcoming projects or collaborations that you're excited about, or anything that you're looking forward to working on in the future?

Rosita:
I’m actually planning on dropping “Fanned Out” as well as “Black Sheep” soon. I think these are two songs that people can really relate to.
