MusicsWeek: How did your journey in music begin?
Sienna-Rose Jerak: My music journey started when I attended a performing arts school in Melbourne Australia studying musical theatre and singing. I taught myself how to play piano. At eight years old I entered singing competitions and loved going through the preliminary rounds and finals singing different songs.
MusicsWeek: What's your creative process like when writing songs?
Sienna-Rose Jerak: I usually start with lyrics and then I will go to the piano and play chords and try to come up with something. I never complete a song. I always come back and keep adding and changing it over days and weeks.
MusicsWeek: What do you think sets you apart from other artists in your genre?
Sienna-Rose Jerak: I am still growing as an artist and and open to learning from all genres and styles. I think for my age, what sets me apart is that I have a great love, and understanding of 90s and 2000's pop /rnb music and artists. I implement that inspiration and style with a modern take through my music.
MusicsWeek: How do you handle writer’s block or creative slumps?
Sienna-Rose Jerak: I just come back to the piece when I am ready and not force it. Ideas and melodies can come to you at any time, and you can always finish something incomplete.
MusicsWeek: Who is your dream collaborator or artist to work with?
Sienna-Rose Jerak: My dream would be to work with great songwriters or their teams, Max Martin, Dianne Warren, and Sia. I am blown away by their talent and longevity.
MusicsWeek: What's been the most surreal or exciting moment of your career so far?
Sienna-Rose Jerak: Being a teen from Australia and having LA Grammy award-winning songwriters and producers work with me.
MusicsWeek: How do you engage with your fans and build a connection with them?
Sienna-Rose Jerak: I think just trying to release songs that connect with them and trying to understand them as people going through the same things in life as myself through my music.
MusicsWeek: What's your biggest passion outside of music?
Sienna-Rose Jerak: Animal welfare. I hope to work with many organisations around the world to bring awareness to the injustice many able animals encounter daily.
MusicsWeek: How do you balance your music career with your personal life?
Sienna-Rose Jerak: It's difficult as I am at regular school and it takes up so much time. And then on top of that homework. I really try to focus and put my music first as much as possible then attend performing arts classes and keep learning.
