Bakar Honors a UK Garage Classic with His New Single “Lonyo!”

Bakar, the genre-defying UK artist, has just released his latest single, “Lonyo!” marking the beginning of a fresh new chapter in his music journey. The track draws from the 2000 UK garage hit “Summer of Love” by producer Lonyo, channeling its infectious vibe while adding Bakar’s own unique spin to the sound.

With “Lonyo!”, Bakar continues climbing the music ladder, showcasing his artistry ahead of what will be his first full-length album in two years once it arrives. He’s also been busy on the festival circuit this summer. On August 9, he hit the stage at Outside Lands in San Francisco, although the new single didn’t make its live debut there. Later this month, on August 23, he’s set to perform at Reading and Leeds Festival back home in the UK.

Bakar first caught widespread attention in 2018 with his mixtape BADKID, a project created alongside longtime collaborator Zach Nahome, a partnership that has proven consistently rewarding. In the U.S., his collaboration with Summer Walker, “Hell N Back,” became a breakout success. The track found renewed popularity after a remix dropped in 2023, eventually climbing to #53 on the Billboard Hot 100.
