If you’re going to make your way into hip-hop, you need to show up with a lot of confidence, even if you have to fake it at first. Rising Texas rapper Mike Dimes clearly understood that when he jumped into the scene right before the 2020s kicked off. He first caught attention in 2021 with his viral single “My Story,” and since then he’s earned major co-signs and stacked up more solid tracks.

In 2024, he secured a feature spot alongside some Southern heavyweights on Denzel Curry’s King Of The Mischievous South Vol. 2. Dimes showed up on the track “G’Z UP,” which also included 2 Chainz, proving he could hold his own among established names.

This year, he’s been doubling down on his solo efforts, releasing his third single of the year, “Flyest In The Room.” It follows his earlier drops “Lamb Talk” and “XOXO.” On this one, he’s brimming with self-assurance, confidently pushing forward despite being early in his career.

At just 21, Mike carries himself like a veteran, delivering lines that show he believes he’s already beyond his peers. “Since a lil’ kid, never listened to Simon / I got a lil’ older and see they still childish,” he raps, putting his mindset and ambition on full display.

According to a press release, an album is also on the way. With that next project, it looks like Dimes is determined to prove to everyone that he’s ready to take full control of the Southern rap game.

Quotable Lyrics:

What would you do if you was twenty-two
In an all-black coupe with them hundreds on you?
Only ones beefin' is ones who ain't eatin'
'Cause n****s be desperate to find 'em some food
I'm in the deep end, got a lil' cute
When I'm sinkin', you watchin' from my lil' pool
