Last year, while promoting her most recent album, Ariana Grande admitted that she was unsure about returning to touring. Her previous string of shows, which supported both Sweetener and Thank U Next, took place nearly six years ago and left her emotionally exhausted. Grande explained that she needed to understand better her connection to live performances before heading back onstage. Now, she’s stepping forward on her own terms with the Eternal Sunshine tour.
The tour begins next June with two nights in Oakland, California, before moving on to Los Angeles for performances at both Crypto.com Arena and Kia Forum. From there, she will make stops in Austin, Texas, her hometown of Sunrise, Florida, Atlanta, four shows at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, Boston, Montreal, and two closing dates at Chicago’s United Center on August 3 and 5. After that, the tour will cross the Atlantic for five shows at London’s O2 Arena.
Like her 2019 Sweetener world tour, this new run will cover two albums: Eternal Sunshine and Positions, the R&B project she released in late 2020. “I think that I was buying myself time, I didn’t want to do that,” she told the Zach Sang Show earlier this year, reflecting on the idea of touring both records together. “I was like, yeah, and then the album will never happen, and then the tour will never happen, no, no, no. I’m kidding.”
At that point, Grande said she wasn’t “ready to announce any sort of thing or get people too excited because I don’t want to disappoint.” She continued, “I had a tough time emotionally on my last tour, but I think that’s because of where I was at … So just like with music, I think I’m really excited to redefine my relationship to shows when I’m ready and to see what that looks like.”
Between those two albums, Grande kept herself busy, most notably stepping into the role of Glinda in the film adaptation of Wicked. The movie is split into two parts, with the first released last Thanksgiving. The story will continue with Act II, which premieres on November 26, 2025.
