Last night, Pooh Shiesty was released early from federal prison. In several clips that surfaced online, the Memphis rapper was seen celebrating his freedom at a homecoming party surrounded by family and friends. People popped bottles of champagne while he showed off large stacks of cash, clearly enjoying the moment.
Fans were thrilled by the news and quickly flooded social media with excitement over the “Back In Blood” artist’s return.
Among those celebrating was Gucci Mane, who took to his Instagram Story earlier today to welcome his 1017 signee back home. “Welcome home @poohshiesty The MainSlime is back,” he wrote, adding a few cold face emojis, according to No Jumper. Gucci wasn’t the only one happy about the release. In a statement shared with XXL, Shiesty’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, also expressed his joy over the outcome.
“I am elated that Pooh has been released after 3 years,” Cohen said. “The government fought hard to give him 10, but after listening to the case, the Judge agreed with us that it was not appropriate and gave him a sentence that resulted in him serving 3 years. I know he will come back bigger than ever and definitely learned from this experience. He is excited to start the next chapter of his story. I believe that everything happens for a reason, and I think that this is just the beginning of his second act.”
Pooh Shiesty was first arrested in October 2020 in connection to a robbery and shooting. He was later released on bond but was taken into custody again in 2021 after another shooting incident at a strip club.
In 2022, he pleaded guilty to conspiring to possess firearms connected to violent and drug-related crimes. That same year, he was sentenced to 63 months in prison. If he had served the full term, his release wouldn’t have been expected until April 2026.
