Ariana Grande has spoken candidly about working to “heal her relationship” with music and the demands that come with touring.

The singer and actress has taken a step back from her recording career in recent years, choosing instead to focus on acting, including her role as Glinda in the Wicked films.

In 2024, Ariana returned with Eternal Sunshine, her first album in four years and her seventh studio release, which she plans to support with a 41 date tour across North America and Europe in 2026. She has previously shared that the run will be her final tour for some time.

During an interview with Interview Magazine, Ariana said the break from music gave her the space she needed to reconnect with the creative process.

“I spent a lot of time reworking my whole approach to making music,” she said. “With Eternal Sunshine, it felt like a completely different experience for me.”

The We Can’t Be Friends singer continued, “I think stepping away helped me take back certain parts of it and separate feelings that were more tied to fame or the pressures of being an artist. I was able to put those things somewhere else and say, ‘Okay, I don’t have to give up something I love. I can set those parts aside and still honour my gifts.’”

Ariana also shared that her time working on Wicked played a major role in strengthening her both emotionally and creatively.

“I’ve been taking small steps toward repairing my relationship with music and touring, and I really believe my time with Glinda and acting helped me build the strength to do that,” she explained. “I honestly can’t say how thankful I am.”

She added, “Music carried a lot of trauma for me before, and I feel that starting to fade now, which is such an incredibly beautiful thing.”
