Later… With Jools Holland has revealed the guest list for the opening episode of its 68th series, along with a preview of artists set to appear across the new run.

The long running programme returns on Sunday May 17 on BBC Two, with filming taking place at Alexandra Palace Theatre in London. The first episode will see former One Direction star Niall Horan make his debut on the show, performing two tracks including the title song from his upcoming fourth album ‘Dinner Party’.

Also appearing on the episode are Holland’s former band Squeeze, who will perform and speak about their latest album ‘Trixies’. In addition, viewers will see TOMORA, a dance pop project made up of AURORA and Tom Rowlands. Their debut album ‘COME CLOSER’ arrived earlier this month.

Completing the line up are surrealist blues poet Aja Monet and the rock pop duo Getdown Services, who will perform their track ‘The Radiator’.

Looking ahead to the rest of the series, upcoming guests include Lola Young, Jessie Ware, Holly Humberstone, Joe Bonamassa, Mitski, Ellie Goulding, James Blake, Sekou, Fcukers, Ashley McBryde, Mandy, Indiana and more.

A staple of British television, Later… has been on air since 1992 and shifted to a Sunday night slot last year. The show is also known for its annual New Year’s Hootenanny specials and continues to draw viewers from across the globe.

Away from the programme, Jools Holland recently made headlines after appearing on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, where his performance during a celebrity special drew criticism. He struggled to reach the £1,000 question, using both ask the audience and phone a friend lifelines early on. Viewers reacted online, with one commenting: “Wow. It’s a good job Jools can play the piano well because he’s bloody useless at this….”
