ELYRIA, OH - As a music producer, composer, performer, and studio master, Benji Casino can do it all, and that is what his EP, “The Summer Off,” represents. Understanding that music resonates differently with every listener, the EP is diverse to satisfy everyone.

“There’s a vibe on there for everybody,” said Benji Casino. “While my lyrics are important, it’s the vibe that gets the play.”

Casino is new to the music scene and does not place his music into a specific genre. “I’m just an artist, period. When it comes to hip hop, R&B, and others, I don’t feel like I have a specific label on what my music is. I have a passion for making music. My song selections and styles on the album are different in every song. I don’t put myself in a specific box,” he explained.

What translates in each of his tracks is growing up as a straight-A student and then succumbing to street life. By the time he was 15, he had discovered a new side of his hometown, the underworld - the drugs, money, women, and alcohol that lived there. From those experiences, Casino writes lyrics from the heart that connect with fans across the country.

While Casino dropped a few singles before “The Summer Off,” his debut album is a collection of previously released and new material. The eleven-track collection was written and engineered/produced by Casino, except two songs, “Obviously,” ft. 6ix Spiffy and “Riri,” ft. Eddy Dusse that are features on the EP.

Even though Casino is a newcomer, he has been recording for years. With “The Summer Off,” he has compiled some of his favorite songs with plans to release more music. “I have over 100 recorded songs,” he said. “The songs on ‘The Summer Off’ meshed well as a vibe that best represents myself as an artist at this point in time. As I grow more into my artistry, the music will change, and the vibe will be better.”

Two of Casino’s favorite songs from the EP are “Obviously” and “Harry Houdini.”

Composed during a night partying with 6ix Spiffy, “Obviously” resulted after a “bottle of tequila and got activated throughout the night,” Casino explained. “We ended up at the studio running through beats. When the beat came on within five seconds, I knew it was it. We wanted to be as authentic as possible. Since we were in the studio, 6ix started freestyling, and it clicked - obviously.”

Just like magic, “Harry Houdini” smacked into Casino’s face while listening to beats. “I was sitting in my house, living my life, and having a good night. When I heard the beat, ‘Harry Houdini’ instantly came to my head. I was really feeling it and vibing with it. I got in front of the mic and started freestyling.”

With its mystical and carnival-like vibe, “Harry Houdini” is “The Summer Off’s” final track and leaves listeners wanting more.

Showing versatility in his sound selection and style, “The Summer Off” is a solid debut album, which will propel Casino into a rising artist. “I always wanted to be rich, but when you’re an artist, fame just kind of follows the fortune. Now I’m here,” he said.

When asked why he chose the name Benji Casino, he replied, “I like blue Benjamin’s, and my life’s a gamble, but the house always wins.” And with “The Summer Off,” Casino has indeed released a winner.
