Priscilla Presley’s former business partners are accusing her of cutting off her daughter Lisa Marie Presley’s life-saving medication to gain control of the Presley family name.
According to a lawsuit obtained by the Los Angeles Times, the former wife of Elvis Presley “ultimately wanted to control” her daughter’s trust and the Graceland estate.
Brigitte Kruse and Kevin Fialko, who lead Priscilla Presley Partners, have filed a lawsuit against her for breach of contract and fraud, seeking damages of at least $50 million (£37 million).
Lisa Marie Presley was rushed to the hospital in January 2023 after going into cardiac arrest. She passed away shortly afterward.
The lawsuit claims that Priscilla knew her daughter was planning to remove her as the sole head of her trust and chose to end life-saving medical treatment early in hopes of securing control of the expansive estate.
“Priscilla knew that Lisa’s death neutralised the threat of Lisa’s efforts to have Priscilla removed as the sole trustee of Lisa’s irrevocable life insurance trust, and Priscilla ultimately wanted to control the Promenade Trust and Graceland,” the legal filing states.
“At her house the following week, before the funeral, Priscilla exclaimed, ‘I’m the queen. I’m in charge of Graceland.”
Lisa Marie had been the sole heir to her father’s Memphis property. After her death, Priscilla filed a petition disputing a 2016 trust amendment that had removed her as trustee and named two of Lisa Marie’s children as co-trustees, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Officials have not alleged any wrongdoing in Lisa Marie’s passing. The Los Angeles County medical examiner’s autopsy concluded that she died from complications related to surgery.
