Jessie J has shared the happy news that she is now cancer free, revealing that she finally “exhaled for the first time in a year” after receiving her latest test results.
The singer first disclosed in June last year that she had been diagnosed with early stage breast cancer. She underwent successful surgery soon afterwards, but three months later she was forced to cancel a planned tour as she prepared for an additional operation.
Last month, Jessie posted a video on Instagram documenting her annual health appointment following a breast MRI scan. Alongside the clip, she shared the exciting update with fans, writing: “RESULTS ARE IN AND I AM CANCER FREE!!”
“I sobbed for hours and then exhaled for the first time in a year,” she added.
Jessie also returned to the Chinese television singing competition Singer with plenty of optimism and energy. The artist previously won the programme in 2018, and the hugely successful series continues to attract audiences of more than 100 million viewers. During her latest appearance, she delivered emotional performances of Frank Sinatra’s ‘My Way’ and her own track ‘California’, taken from her recent album ‘Don’t Tease Me With A Good Time’.

Towards the end of last year, Jessie opened up about the emotional rollercoaster of her 2025, calling it “one of the hardest but most magical years” she has ever experienced.
“This year has been heavy and hard in many ways for all of us, for me personally one of the hardest but most magical years of my life,” she wrote at the time. “Personally and professionally. But all the sadness has come up this week, it’s the first time I’ve stopped (working and being in public in months) So I’m crying a lot. Writing shit down feeling really low tbh. The lowest I have felt in a while.”
Last September, Jessie made a heartfelt comeback to live performing when she appeared at BBC Radio 2 in the Park alongside her two year old son, just 11 weeks after undergoing surgery. Speaking to the crowd, she reflected on her recovery journey, saying: “I’m still very much in the recovery process. But I’m just so grateful to be here.”
Her sixth studio album, ‘Don’t Tease Me With A Good Time’, arrived in November and featured the singles ‘No Secrets’, ‘Living My Best Life’, ‘H.A.P.P.Y.’ and ‘I’ll Never Know Why’.
More recently, Jessie performed at London’s Mighty Hoopla festival last month and is also scheduled to appear at Victorious Festival in Portsmouth later this summer.
