Kacey Musgraves Has a Cheeky Reply for Fan Unimpressed by Her Stage Design

Kacey Musgraves delivered a playful response to someone who criticised her suggestive concert props.

The 38 year old country musician launched her Middle of Nowhere Tour in Chicago on August 21, complete with two enormous sparkling disco balls designed with anatomically accurate details.

One follower made their disapproval clear beneath an Instagram carousel Kacey posted from the tour, commenting: "I can’t get behind the large testicles I’m sorry. (sic)"

The Merry Go Round singer jokingly replied: "Well, maybe you can get in front of them."

While performing Rhinestoned, Kacey travels around the stage on top of the giant glitter covered decorations.

According to People, she told the audience: "This is what it looks like when no one tells me no."

The eight time Grammy Award winner has been enjoying the bold stage pieces, despite them receiving a mixed reaction from certain concertgoers.

When Kacey’s grandmother, lovingly called Nana, attended one of the concerts, the performer joked: "It takes a lot of balls to get up here and do what I do every night. It takes two gigantic, anatomically correct sparkly balls.

"I’ve actually got my Nana in the house tonight, and she always told me, 'Honey, if you’re gonna do something, do it big, do it sparkly.'

"Nana, is this what you had in mind?"

However, Nana is not particularly fond of Kacey’s more provocative work, including the sexually charged song Dry Spell from her newest record, Middle of Nowhere.

People quoted Kacey as explaining: "I’ve never talked about self-pleasure before. So that’s a first for me: 'Sitting on the washing machine.' It’s not my grandma’s favourite line, but it’s mine, I guess."

The Mexico Honey artist discovered that Nana had been taken to hospital following an "extreme high blood pressure incident" while she was shooting the revealing Dry Spell video, which contains plenty of sexual references and begins with Kacey carrying an eggplant.

After receiving a message from her father about Nana’s medical emergency, Kacey became emotional during a phone call and feared her grandmother might never have the opportunity to watch the completed visual.

Kacey recalled: "I don’t know if she’ll laugh. Actually, in the middle of filming the video, I got a text from my dad that Nana had to be rushed to the hospital: She had a really scary, extreme high blood pressure incident.

"So I had to leave, and I was on the call, crying, like, 'If Nana lives, she’s gonna hate this video!'"
